Church law invites the formation of an advisory group for parishes. The purpose of such a group is to assist the pastor in the care of the parish. The council is a consultative body which advises and offers its opinion.

Its membership is made up of members from the various aspects of parish life and includes the trustees and the priests of the parish. The council has been looking into adopting the concept of stewardship for the parish and is helping to develop a live-year plan for the parish, looking towards the future.
